چکیده

The utilization of oral implantology in the field of dentistry is growing at a rapid rate. Although the surgical aspect of the field has expanded into many high-profile areas (i.e., immediate implant placement, distraction Osteogenesis, and the orthodontic anchorage implant), it is the prosthetic aspect that is the most critical for long term success. More specifically, the occlusal considerations for implant supported prostheses make a major contribution to ensure predictable results. This article reviews occlusal principles and clinical applications for long term success of endosseous implants.

Occlusal considerations in implant therapy: clinical guidelines with biomechanical rationale.

Due to lack of the periodontal ligament, osseointegrated implants, unlike natural teeth, react biomechanically in a different fashion to occlusal force. It is therefore believed that dental implants may be more prone to occlusal overloading, which is often regarded as one of the potential causes for peri-implant bone loss and failure of the implant/implant prosthesis. Overloading factors that m...

Maxillary cement retained implant supported monolithic zirconia prosthesis in a full mouth rehabilitation: a clinical report

This clinical report presents the reconstruction of a maxillary arch with a cement retained implant supported fixed prosthesis using a monolithic zirconia generated by CAD/CAM system on eight osseointegrated implants. The prosthesis was copy milled from an interim prosthesis minimizing occlusal adjustments on the definitive prosthesis at the time of delivery. Monolithic zirconia provides high e...

A prospective study to assess osseointegration of dental endosseous implants with the Periotest instrument.

Long-term studies have documented the successful treatment of edentulous and partially edentulous patients with titanium implants. However, the inability to identify some non-osseointegrated implants before occlusal loading is costly to practitioners and patients. This study followed all patients (n = 40) who had implants placed over a 6-month period. The Periotest instrument was used at Stage ...

Mandibular Implant-supported Overdenture as an Occlusion-guide for Maxillary Fixed Implant Prosthesis: A Clinical Report

Unlike natural teeth, osseointegrated implants react bio mecha nically in a different fashion to occlusal load due to lack of the periodontal ligament. Stability of the intercuspal position and red...

Occlusal considerations in implantology: good occlusal practice in implantology.

UNLABELLED This article is concerned with implants that are being used for fixed crown and bridgework rather than removable prostheses. The huge increase in the provision of implants over the past two decades is set to continue. Most of the research is related to avoiding failures in implants. This research, in the main, has concentrated on the essential interface between the artificial implant...
